Bookworm
When I was young, I loved reading books. It was my mom who read stories and bought me the best seller’s books whenever we went back to Japan. I just loved being one of the characters in the story. I would be the daydreaming girl that would dream about anything.
My school would have an event where the students wrote their story and if you were selected, you could join the county book club with all other little authors. In 5th Grade, I was elected, the dream that I wished for.
When you wish upon a star
When you wish upon a star – yes by the song Pinocchio.
Once upon a time, there was a girl that dreamed that she could be everything she wanted. Her parents loved her so much, but sometimes it was a little difficult for the girl to understand. She compared herself with her brothers who were clever and charming. She thought her parents loved them more than her, she started to be unhappy, and started to put her feelings closed in her drawer that had a lock in her heart. Everything she did, the Mother seemed not happy, naturally she beginning to think that she was never loved and believed that she was found under the bridge.
As time passed by, the girl grew up. She started living by herself and thought how she was protected and loved . From then, she started to show respect to her parents as any of the children would do.
One day, she met an Explorer who she thought was a diamond that casted to a stone. She fell in love and little by little, she opened the lock of her drawer but meanwhile, they had to say goodbye. After all, he was a stone.
She dreamed that she could change the stone to diamond, she did what she could do and at last he stood by her side. But it took so long, she was tired to see the stone, thinking it was a diamond. After all, it was a stone not a diamond. Still, he was the Explorer, whenever he saw her he was happy, told her his feelings but never would get a smile. At last, she was a girl that dreamed that everything she wanted she could have, and now her goal was to stand up on her own two feet.
One day, a star came from the sky, but she was too busy thinking of herself she did not realize until her body started screaming. She was ill and could not get up. Her parents were worried that she had some kind of a disease that would take her up to the sky. They gave her everything they could to help her cure, but that love she did not want, she ran away again to be by herself, acting if everything was okay. She made a choice, a strong brave choice that she would live just the way she was. She did not stop, she did not listen, she did not tell, she did not look back.
That night the star spoke to her, “Girl, you should think how you are loved, how you are cared for. Look around you, look who you see. I was here for you to learn.”
Then the star twinkled in the sky as if it was saying, see you again.
It was time for her to learn that she was made from the love of her parents and the stone was a stone but with a little diamond in the middle.
Now it was her turn to give all her love back to the people she loved and cared for.
The star would be looking at what she would be giving.
The girl is a dreamer that dreamed that everything she wanted she could have. Maybe with the stone with a little shine.
